Our Surprise Trip to Cheyenne‏

Dear family and friends,

We returned from our trip to Denver/Cheyenne early this evening. It was a great trip and we were happy to be there for Steve and Tammy. Steve was so surprised and I don’t think anyone, except perhaps Tammy, can believe we really kept it a secret until the moment we arrived at the hospital. We are thrilled with how well Steve came through the surgery. Eric commented on the way home that one reason he was glad we went was to see how well Steve really is doing. Eric may not have believed Steve on his word alone. We were happy to be there for at least a little moral support. We know there’s more ahead, but this was a big first hurdle.

On our trip, we were able to spend a little time sightseeing in Denver. We went to a dinosaur preserve area and a railroad museum. At the dinosaur place, we were able to walk through a small museum and hold some actual dinosaur bones and artifacts. We then took a tour up the hill to see where there were actual dinosaur footprints, wave markings in the rock and fossils of other small creatures. We also learned how to tell the difference between rock and bone. The girls had a great time, and so did Eric and I. The railroad museum was okay. The $18 dollars we paid was definitely too much, but Abby liked seeing the different cars up close and we were able to view inside a few of them. They only run train rides on Saturday, for a higher fee of course, but that would have made it much more fun. We forgot our camera, and the cheap one we bought ate our pictures. Note to self: buy a single use camera over a cheap digital. The girls will enjoy the new camera toy. : ) Abby is excited to share her trip details with her class this Friday during their “Show and Teach.” Our trip inspired us to check out our local Utah dinosaur exhibits and trains perhaps this summer.
