"...she had the same tough look on her face..."

On Monday we went to celebrate Onion Days in Payson. The girls really love this because they get to gather lots of candy as the parade goes by. The parade route goes right in front of Melissa’s grandparent’s house so we always have a nice place to go and enjoy the parade. After the parade, we all had fun with Melissa’s extended family as we enjoyed some grilled hamburgers. We also sang happy birthday to Melissa (7th Sept) and Melissa’s Grandma (6th Sept). I won’t tell you how old Melissa is but she did celebrate the 12th anniversary of her 18th birthday. Melissa’s mom is really taking Melissa’s birthday hard because the older her oldest gets the older she gets, funny how that works. Once the food had settled and things were cleaned up we took the girls to the park where they had all kinds of rides. Abby and Sarah went on the merry-go-round and two other fun rides that were just right for their ages. This was Sarah’s first time on a merry-go-round and she had the same tough look on her face that she had when she rode a horse a few months ago.

We had another week of Grandma Ewell watching the girls. We were again grateful for her willingness to come but again Sarah had another hard week of wanting to stay with me and crying every time I leave. Of Friday, when it was time for Grandma Ewell to go home, Sarah gladly got her purse for her and helped her out the door. I don’t know why she has a hard time with Grandma because she seems to have had a fun time every time I came home from work.

On the 9th, Abby was the “everyday hero” (person of the day) in her kindergarten class. She was so excited because they really make it a big deal. A parent is invited to come to class to tell the class about their child. The child gets to wear a cape and is given a medal. The class then sings a song for this child and then the child goes out into the hallway while the rest of the class lines up on either side of the door in the classroom so the “everyday hero” can run in and give everyone high fives. Abby was super excited about this and was planning out how she was going to run in and give high fives. She couldn’t wait to get her medal, because as she says, “this will be my first medal ever.” We had made arrangements for Melissa, Grandma Ewell (who was watching Sarah), Sarah, and I to all be there for her day. I got to tell the class about Abby and Abby just sat there at the front of the room with a big smile on her face. She was so proud of her self and the fuss that was being made about her.

Well, that’s about it for this week.

Happy Birthday Mel! I'm sorry to tell you, but you aren't the only one turning that age! I can't imagine what it will be like to not be in my 20's anymore, tell me, how does it feel to be getting old!?!
